The emergency contact number for Rutgers University (including Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark and Rutgers Health Sciences in New Brunswick) is 9-1-1.
- The non-emergency phone number for the Rutgers Health Sciences in New Brunswick (legacy UMDNJ) will change to the existing Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) phone number 732-932-7211.
- The non-emergency phone number for the Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark will remain the same, 973-972-4491.

Chemical or Hazardous Waste Disposal Requests:
Newark, New Brunswick, Piscataway and Rutgers Health Sciences Campus at Newark (both RU and legacy UMDNJ)
All hazardous waste pick-ups requests will be done through the existing REHS website link.
Medical / Biosafety Waste Disposal Requests
There will be no immediate changes to Medical Waste handling and disposal policies and procedures as of July 1, 2013. Please continue to follow established legacy UMDNJ policies and procedures until further notice. Any questions please contact REHS offices at 848-445-2550.
Shipping Hazardous Materials or Materials on Dry Ice
Rutgers University is responsible to comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) / International Air Transportation Association (IATA) regulations as they apply to our operations.
Anyone who offers for shipment (via land, air, mail, etc.) Hazardous Materials or Dangerous Goods must have the appropriate DOT training, even when the transporter/carrier (i.e. Federal Express) completes the necessary paperwork.
