Excavation
has been recognized by OSHA as a hazardous construction
operation. Outside contractors performing excavations,
must comply with the OSHA trenching and excavation
regulations (1926.652 and appendices). Rutgers
employees performing excavations must also comply
with the OSHA standard. Please contact REHS if
you would like information on trenching/shoring
or if you have concerns about the safety of a
trench on campus.
