Respiratory Safety Program
|
|
One of the
principal routes of exposure to chemical substances
is through inhalation. The Rutgers
University Respiratory Protection Program identifies
conditions under which respirators can be used to limit
such exposure. The program also addresses the necessary
medical and training requirements that must be implemented
prior to respirator use.
|
|
REHS evaluates
workplace conditions to assess the need for respirators,
provides training in the care, maintenance and use of
respirators, and conducts the necessary fit testing
of respirators. The Occupational Health Department provides
the medical evaluation and pulmonary function testing
that is prerequisite to respirator use.
